No Nation by Azawindam No Nation by Azawindam
I seriously liked how it turns out. Remember, good artwork is good when you sketch it in less than 10 minutes, and you're willing to finish it in one sitting. It's like this moment of "Eureka!" and you just wanna put things down on paper non-stop. That's the feeling that I have for most of my works, and "No Nation" is one of the works that went through this experience.

Interesting~ I love coloring and simplicity, although I'm sure those mouse traps took a while draw!

Thanks! The mouse traps require patience, but it's not a big deal. :P

I really should push myself to create a drawing in 10 minutes, usually I am quite picky when it comes to drawing that I am constantly erasing and redrawing it. So I should give it a go at least sometimes soon.

I really like the angle and the perspective of this drawing, sort of like a border between the mouse and the mousetraps centred in the middle of the image. Quite cute as well!

It doesn't necessarily have to be ten minutes. The whole point is that you have the confidence to sketch your work without the need to think again. Indeed, as stated before, the angle really goes well with the composition. I find composition and simplicity very useful, actually.

And I wasn't expecting my mouse to be cute, but ok! :)

Excellent concept. Though it was well done in short time, I hope you come back to it later and refine it. I'd say it's worth further effort.

Thanks, man. Well, to be honest, this is as far as I can go with my artwork since I do not know what else to add. Anyways, I checked out your artwork, and I adore your vector works, man! Very lovely!

This is really awesome! Love the perspective!

I go by the 10 minute rule sometime, Some of my better stuff comes out of drawing in a short time, usually they come to be very sketchy haha.

Thanks! I have to agree with that the perspective goes really well with the arrangement of composition.

Nice, it's in Ohio. I have a friend who also lives there, but he is studying at Ohio State University. Now I think he parties hard, joins a frat, and travelling all over the place.

i have to admit i absolutely love this piece ... really, really great work my friend !!!

unfortunately your '10 minute' rule sounds more like the product of a microwave oven than it does an artist ... sometimes great art takes time !!! i will apologize in advance for 'the rant' but in your description, i feel you clearly defined what is wrong with our present culture !!!

keep up the great work but ditch the philosophy !!!

sincerely,
william irving

Thanks, man! What I meant about the "10 minute rule" is that it takes 10 minutes to roughly sketch a good concept because of inspiration. My artwork would go nowhere if it takes more than half an hour or more with my sketches. It sounds kinda confusing, but I hope you get what I am saying. Obviously, the coloring part takes more than ten minutes.

yeah, i think i get it ... trying to capture that initial spontaneity is really important and any attempt to rework those initial sketches is somewhat futile !!! in the words of thurston moore from sonic youth, "once the music has left your head, it has already been compromised" !!!

sorry again for the rant ... although i will never be a fan of time and its symbolic representation in our culture (ie. the microwave oven). and thanks for the chat !!!

I have no idea how you do the things you do. This is awesome. The pencil work and the faded colors give it a great a great mood and effect.

Thanks, man. I used the gradient at the bottom. At first I didn't want to, but later the effects further enhance the atmosphere once I used it. Yes, the work is done with ink and pencil. This time with a simple Pigma pen.

This is very, very nice. I'm not sure why, but it's really visually appealing. And you've made the chosen angle work really well.

Thanks for the comment! ^^ The key to this work is composition and keeping the content simple. That is all I can say, mate. :D
